Interesting Social Media Statistics for the Past 2012 [Infographic]

Social Media Statistics
This is my first time sharing an infographic with you guys, but it seems like  people tend to enjoy those kinds of visual presentations, so here’s an interesting one I discovered recently.

Now that the holidays are over and that we are finally back to our normal schedules and activities, I believe it might be worth taking a look at the past 2012 and the things that happened in the social media realm, in which most of us participate. That is namely what you can see in the below presentation!

The infographic is prepared by iStrategyLabs and aims to visualize an article that was published at the Huffington post titled  100 Fascinating Social Media Statistics and Figures From 2012. Here are some of the highlights that are included:

  • 1 Million websites being integrated with Facebook
  • 56% of customer comments being ignored on Twitter
  • 34% of marketers were able to create leads via Twitter
  • Google’s +1 button is used 5 million times a day
  • Only 20% of Pinterest users are male

  1. Daniel,

Thanks for this Infographic with its terrific summary of 2012. I really appreciate you sharing it, and I was especially interested in the Pinterest stats.

  2. Thanks, Daniel, very interesting especially re: Pinterest and food and price info.

  3. Great infographic, Daniel! Of all those stats, it’s stunning to me that 25% of Facebook users don’t bother with their privacy settings. Facebook has made them complicated to understand, but in this digital age of identity theft, spam and account-jacking you’d think people would know better.

    Thanks for sharing!

    • Sean,

I absolutely agree wit what you said! It’s definitely important to think of your own security. The least one can do is use different passwords for each network they participate in.

  4. Fascinating facts and very useful for marketeers and PR people or those like me who teach/coach/speak on Social Media. Agree am amazed at Privacy stats and also on the length of time people spend on Instagram.

    • Hey Zoë,

Glad to hear you found the infographic useful! Instagram shows some interesting results indeed. But after all people perceive visual information easier than text, which might explain what we see to an extent.

      Enjoy your day! :)

  5. I didn’t knew instagram wins over twitter in user interaction. And 625,000 users per day for Google plus is not a bad start either. I guess image speak louder than words and maybe that is why this infographic explains it better compared to if it was written as a blog post.

    • Absolutely! Images work way better than text in the online world. An infographic is straight-to-the-point and the visualization makes things even easier to understand. Have you tried Google Plus? It’s a great network.
